Enhanced Pass Plus
North Yorkshire County Council’s Enhanced Pass Plus Scheme offers newly qualified drivers the opportunity to reduce their insurance premiums whilst further developing their driving.
The scheme is based on the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Pass Plus Scheme but is specifically targeted at the dangers new drivers face when on North Yorkshire’s road network. For details on the ‘Enhanced Pass Plus’ scheme, call Customer Services on 0845 0349494 and ask for Bert Pallister.
We pay £75 towards the cost of the training, so the pupil pays £99.

Momentum
The young driver Momentum scheme is a fantastic opportunity to get your driving assessed by an Institute of Advanced Motorist (IAM) Examiner for FREE!
If you are a York resident (living in the City of York Council boundary) aged between 17-26, with a full licence and access to a fully insured car, then you can apply by sending your name and address to momentum@york.gov.uk
The assessment takes around an hour and you will be provided with feedback and tips on how to improve your driving if you need it.
If you go on and take the Skills for Life program delivered through the IAM then you could see significant discounts on your motor insurance costs, and have access to other additional benefits such as free breakdown cover.
If you have to drive as part of your job, why not ask your employer to consider enrolling you for Momentum as part of their fleet management strategy? Once they are signed up as an employer – see below – you just need to email us and remember to quote the name of your organisation in the email.
Momentum in Business – FREE young driver assessments
As well as individuals we are encouraging businesses in York to sign up to the momentum scheme. Young drivers are three times more likely to have an accident whilst driving for work than their older counterparts.
As part of your commitment to safer driving at work, we are asking fleet managers to sign up and allow their young drivers (aged 17-26) to take part in the momentum scheme in work time and using a works vehicle.
