The 95 Alive York and North Yorkshire Road Safety Partnership have developed the following teachers’ resources for children aged 5-7 and 7-11.
LIVING STREETS
We want a nation where walking is the natural choice for everyday local journeys.
Our mission is to achieve a better walking environment and inspire people to walk more.
Progress starts here: one street, one school, one step at a time. Read our three year strategy to find out more about our vision, mission and values here.
Primary School Initiatives – Here you will find links to our walk to school initiatives, resources, stories and much more.
Secondary School Initiatives – This page is for all secondary school pupils and their parents, carers and families. Open here for more details.

Is your school a STAR?
North Yorkshire County Council has signed up to Modeshift STARS . This is a national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting walking, cycling and other forms of sustainable transport. The scheme encourages schools right across the country to join a major effort to increase levels of sustainable and active travel and in doing so, improve the health, safety and well-being of children and the whole school community.

Walk to school week 19 October 2020 – 23 October 2020
Walking to school provides an opportunity for everyone to keep active and healthy. It’s also a great time for children to learn road safety skills and develop an awareness of their surroundings. We have produced an activity for you to make the most out of walk to school week.
