Primary School Kids in Scarborough have become Junior Road Safety Officers.
An event was organised by the North Yorkshire County Council Road Safety officer for the Scarborough and Whitby area, Mandy Lees.
It was hosted by Sirius Minerals and they will also sponsor the scheme for the next year. It sees two Year Five pupils from each school helping to promote road safety.
Representatives from the Police and Fire Services were also at the launch. The JRSOs are expected to keep a diary of their achievements and activities throughout the year.
They will also be given tasks to do such as running competitions, delivering an assembly and creating a notice board.
At the end of the year, all the evidence is collected in and the Road Safety Officer will compare the diaries to find a winning school.
The winning pair will receive £200 for their school and receive a £50 voucher each.

“We’ll hopefully be running this every year. Sirius Minerals has been absolutely fantastic.
They’ve given us a place to hold a venue and also the prizes. They’re feeding the children and they’re going to sponsor us the whole year through.
Hopefully we’ve got a good relationship built here and they keep on sponsoring us.” we’ve got a good relationship built.”
