Trials have been taking place recently of the Intelli-cone safety system. This system uses the latest technology to alert those working on the carriageway when cones are moved, either by drivers moving cones to get onto a section of closed road or when drivers lose control and knock over cones that are protecting the workforce. Should cones be moved an alarm sounds to warn the workforce and this could save lives giving them chance to get to safety. There are facilities to allow CCTV footage to be recorded to show drivers moving or crashing through cones.
